New Delhi (India): Sharda Education Trust (SET) and Research and Extension Association for Conservation Horticulture and Agro-Forestry (REACHA) and several partnering NGOs have signed an MOU for Sharda University’s NGO internship programme (NIP).

PK Gupta, Chairman, Sharda Group of Institutions said, “The NIP project is a social initiative undertaken by the Trust for the development and betterment of society. SET will provide these NGOs highly motivated students and experienced faculty.”

Dedicated, trained manpower, i.e. the university’s national and international faculty with years of experience and intellect, will work with them on Field, Application and Research based projects. These inputs in turn will enable the NGOs to effectively implement and execute their present, as well as future projects.

Sharda University students will assist as volunteers on ground level projects and also get an opportunity to work on live projects, which will go a along way in contributing to their overall development.

As per the understanding, REACHA will identify, screen and select the NGOs where NIP can roll out. SET will provide: Infrastructure, trained and dedicated manpower and medical services through its charitable hospital.

Since Sharda University’s focus is on application based learning, this program will offer students the required exposure to environmental and social sciences, humanities, cultural heritage and conservation as well as democratic reforms and governance issues.

A standing committee will oversee the execution of NIP and give direction to the programme.

In another step, Sharda University students launched two unique initiatives- Education Beyond Boundaries (EBB) and Color It Green.

To take this programme forward EBB is in the process of commissioning an in-depth survey of employees living in the colonies. This will lead to the development of a chain-plan to meet their requirement.
