Agra (India): Army chief General Deepak Kapoor joined celebrations at the two day Re-union of the 50 Independent Para Brigade, with his wife. He visited the Taj Mahal. In the evening he watched the live performance at the Kalakriti auditorium "Mohabbat the Taj," an 80-minute audio-visual plus live presentation by more than 60 artistes. Kapoor was fascinated by the world's largest model of the Taj Mahal that appeared on the stage, with the help of a hydraulic lift. The 50 Para Brigade has to its credit several daring assignments including the Bangladesh liberation war of 1971. General Kapoor watched paratroopers perform and jump at the Malpura dropping zone close to the Kheria Air Force station. The two-day celebrations began Wednesday with Lt. Gen. PC Katoch col of the Para Regiment laying a wreath and saluting the martyrs at the war memorial. |
